Experience Design / Innovationparticipatory design
BBC New Media
We carried out two hands on participatory design workshops for BBC New Media.
The first session first brought together a cross section of designers, technologists and executives to give them a first hand feel for the process and to reflect on how it could be of most value.
The second session was with audience members (teens and young adults). We wanted to understand more about their ‘digital dreams’.
The process got participants to become aware of their current media behaviours and experiences (of services and products) and then to envision an ideal experience in a digitally connected world.
Knowledge about how audiences see the ‘now’ and ‘future’ opens up new spaces for innovation. We found the aspirations of audience members to be very different to the services currently offered by the BBC.
Using this insight BBC design teams are better able to synchronise their creativity in line with aspirations of their audiences.
